Descrizione
When it’s hot, it’s good to have on hand lively, high toned wines that refresh and replenish. In between the eastern edge of Lombardy and the western slopes of the Veneto is the beautiful Lake Garda. At its southern most tip lie the vineyards of Lugana, an appellation whose vineyards crisscross between the two regions, and the Marangona Estate. Alessandro Cutolo is the young winemaker, focused on white wines with the local grape, known near Lake Garda as Turbiana or Trebbiano di Lugana. The vineyards benefit from both the proximity to the lake, and a slight altitude, which brings a wonderful racy quality to the wines, mouthwatering, herbaceous, with a touch of apricot, and perhaps a hint of almond. Fun fact: Marangona refers to the name of a bell, rung to say it’s the end of the day. They’re a rather usual sight around the old estates. To sip alone as an aperitivo, or to pair with warm weather, light-hearted cuisine such as salads, seafood, fresh, youthful cheeses, and antipasto
